More than 200 university employees have been approved to participate in the retirement incentive option -- an estimated gross savings of $13.6 million in salaries and benefits.

Ombuds report shows need for resource

A report shows that a conflict with a supervisor is the top issue that employees bring to ombuds officer Elaine Newell. The ombuds office is open to faculty, P&S staff, Supervisory/Confidential employees and graduate students. Merit staff and undergrads have alternative resources.

Volunteers are invited to help during a July 18 cleanup effort. The target is College Creek, which flows through the southeast edge of campus.

Final figures

On a voluntary basis since mid-January, 401 Iowa State employees signed up for furloughs or leave without pay, or made cash gifts to the ISU Foundation to help meet a mid-year budget reversion.

A group of high school sophomores spent a couple days on campus earlier this week. They participated in a program that could help them become the first in their family to graduate from college.
