50th year approaches

The Town and College Toastmasters Club, which has met in the Memorial Union Pine Room since it was formed, will observe its 50th anniversary in April 2009. The club is a combination of college students, professors, professionals and non-professionals from around the city. The club meets every Saturday at 7:45 a.m. (business meeting) and 8 a.m. for the general meeting.

Lab school has January openings

The Child Development Laboratory School has preschool-age openings for spring semester. The school is nationally accredited and earned five stars on Iowa's Quality Rating Scale. Each classroom is staffed by two licensed early childhood teachers. For more information or to complete an application form, contact Malisa Rader, 4-3040, mrader@iastate.edu, or go online.

The successful candidate will begin March 1, working around current teaching responsibilities. Applications are due Dec. 31. Select your W-2 format

Last January, more than 50 percent of ISU employees chose to receive their W-2s electronically, via AccessPlus. Here are some benefits to electronic W-2s:

  • Security. Social Security numbers and other personal information aren't sent through the mail.
  • Promptness. Electronic W-2s typically are ready in mid-January; paper W-2s are mailed at the end of January.
  • Availability. Print as many copies of your W-2 as you need whenever you need it.
  • Savings. Eliminate the use of an envelope and postage.

If you received a W-2 from Iowa State for 2007, your choice (electronic or paper) will carry over to 2008, as long as you receive a paycheck in December 2008. If you won't receive a paycheck this month, your W-2 selection will default to paper on Jan. 1, 2009. To change your selection, log into AccessPlus (click on "Employee" tab and "W-2").
