6th annual garden art fair is July 13

by Anne Krapfl

More than 50 artists from Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri and Nebraska will display and sell their wares at Reiman Gardens' sixth annual Garden Art Fair Sunday, July 13. Fair hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and admission is free for everyone.

The artists participating create garden- and nature-inspired art, including photography, jewelry, pottery, watercolors, metal and glass sculptures, clothing, handbags, birdhouses and other media. Their booths will be located both inside and outside the conservatory complex and Mahlstede building.

"Our new garden room gives us a lot more indoor space for the event," said gardens director Teresa McLaughlin. "We're excited about the new artists coming this year and the diversity of artists."

Musicians will perform outside throughout the day. The schedule features:

  • 9-10 a.m., Anne Regnier (keyboardist)
  • 10 a.m.-noon, David and Donna Wilder (antique organ grinder)
  • Noon-2 p.m., Bejae Flemming (southern blues)
  • 2-4 p.m., Junction Jazz Society (jazz)

Corny Island Concessions will sell food and beverages. McLaughlin said fair goers also are welcome to bring their own lunch.

Regular admission charges to Reiman Gardens resume at 4 p.m. The gardens are open daily until 7 p.m. from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
