Reception for international graduatesThe International Students and Scholars Office, ISU Alumni Association and International Student Council will host a reception May 9 (2-4 p.m., 179 Scheman) to honor international students who are graduating spring semester. All are invited to attend. Conference on air emissions from animal operations is May 19-21The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and ISU Extension will co-host a national conference on air emission mitigation technologies for animal feeding operations at the Hotel Fort Des Moines May 19-21. Registration is $125 through May 4 and $175 after. Conference details and registration are online. Summer openings at lab schoolThe Child Development Laboratory School has summer openings for 2-, 3- or 4-year-old children. Each classroom of this nationally accredited program is staffed by two licensed teachers. More information and the application form are online or contact Malisa Rader, mrader@iastate.edu, 4-3040. First look at solar house designThe ISU Solar Decathlon Team will reveal its design for the Interlock House May 3 (5-8 p.m., Hughes Auditorium, Reiman Gardens). The solar-powered house will be built for the Solar Decathlon 2009 competition in Washington, D.C. ISU was one of 20 international teams chosen to compete. This is the first public exhibition of the design. Students and faculty will answer questions and give more information on the house's design and the competition. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided. |
MU Market and Café opens May 14ISU Dining's MU Market and Café (replacing the MU Café and Onion's convenience store) opens May 14 near the University Book Store's north entrance. The menu will include Roasterie coffee drinks; Freshëns smoothies; fresh-packaged sandwiches, salads and wraps; and a soup of the day. It also will offer convenience items and additional local and vegetarian products. Summer hours are Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Opening specials through May 31:
