ISU Alert offers notification options

by Diana Pounds

ISU students, faculty and staff will have up to three ways to receive emergency messages when a new notification system goes into effect later this semester.

The new system, ISU Alert, is not yet in operation, but students and employees can start selecting their notification methods via AccessPlus on Wednesday, Nov. 7.

Individuals can opt for any or all three notification methods:

  • A phone number for voice alerts
  • A phone number for text alerts
  • An e-mail address for e-mail alerts

By default, the emergency system initially will use phone numbers and e-mail addresses that already are in the university's student and employee databases. To update that information, each individual should:

  • Sign on to AccessPlus
  • From the "home" tab, click "ISU Alert" on the left menu
  • Add or update information in the notification fields

ISU will use the Connect-ED service of The NTI Group, a California firm that provides emergency notification services to universities and schools.

The ISU Alert system will be used only for emergencies that pose an immediate danger to the university community.

Summary

ISU students, faculty and staff can choose how to receive emergency information.
