Outstanding journal article

Catherine Kling and Jinhua Zhao, economics professor and associate professor, respectively, received the Outstanding Journal Article Award at the Canadian Agricultural Economics Society annual meeting. "Green Subsidies in Agriculture: Estimating the Adoption Costs of Conservation Tillage from Observed Behaviour," co-authored with Southern Illinois University colleague Lyubov Kurkalova, was published in the June 2006 issue of the Canadian Journal of Agricultural Economics.

Winning posters

A poster on "Spatial Competition and the Location of the U.S. Ethanol Industry" by Tun-Tsiang (Edward) Yu and Frank Fuller, researchers at the Center for Agricultural and Rural Development, took first place in the poster competition at the American Agricultural Economics Association annual meeting. The second-place poster was co-authored by Jinhua Zhao, associate professor in economics.

APS fellow

Allen Miller, professor of plant pathology, was named a fellow of the American Phytopathological Society for his contributions to plant pathology and the society.

AAEA fellow

Dermot Hayes, professor of economics and finance, and Pioneer Hi-Bred International chair in Agribusiness, was named a fellow of the American Agricultural Economics Association. The honor is awarded to a select few in the profession who have made continuous contribution to the advancement of agricultural economics.
