July 19, 2007 Energy Tip:A couple clicks a day really payYou can save the university $3 to $4 in energy costs every month just by turning off your computer nights and weekends. Switch off the printer as well and you'll double the savings. Worried about missing an important computer update if you shut down your computer? Check with your computer support staff to find out when updates occur and whether your computer must be on. For many, it's not necessary to leave computers running to receive updates. Those who receive support through Information Technology Services, for example, can turn computers off any time, day or night. When the computers reconnect to the ISU network, needed updates occur. |
