Council seeks nominations in 'best of the best' competition

The idea of "best practices" is behind a new award approved April 5 by the P&S Council. An award will be presented in the fall to the unit or college with the best awards/recognition program for its P&S employees.

"We believe there should be more awards for P&S staff beyond the major university awards," said Nancy Knight, co-chair of the council's representation and awards committee. She cited the Carroll Ringgenberg award, Outstanding New Professional award, CYtation awards and Regents Award for Staff Excellence as some of the major P&S awards.

"Over time, we'd like to change the culture at Iowa State, so that more awards and recognitions are given by units and colleges," Knight said. "By sharing ideas through this competition, we hope to spark creativity within units."

A short, four-question nomination form is due June 15. The winning unit will be notified by mid-August and honored at an early fall forum. The forum also will highlight notable P&S awards programs on campus.
