Arts and humanities scholar

Mary Swander, Distinguished Professor of liberal arts and sciences and professor of English, is Iowa State's 2006 Distinguished Arts and Humanities Scholar.

Board of directors member

Thane Peterson, director of the Office of Sponsored Programs Administration, was appointed to a three-year term on the board of directors of the Research Administrators Certification Council. The council, composed of certified research administrators, certifies that an individual, through experience and testing, has the knowledge necessary to be a professional research or sponsored programs administrator.

Book published

Margo Kitts, lecturer in the department of philosophy and religious studies, has published a book, Sanctified Violence in Homeric Society, with Cambridge University Press, Classics division. In it, she shares her theory of ritualized violence in the text of Homer's Illiad.
