Music groups perform Nov. 13

by Dave Gieseke, LAS public relations

A comfortable way to see the Cyclone Marching Band is at the annual ISU Band Extravaganza, beginning at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, in Stephens Auditorium.

"At the game, you may have someone near you talking through the halftime performance or the wind is blowing, distorting the sound," said Michael Golemo, bands director and music chair. "The marching band is a quality musical group and their wonderful symphonic sound deserves to be heard inside."

The ISU Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble I and Symphonic Band also will perform during the Extravaganza.

"The variety and diversity of the musical selections offered that day, I think is very appealing," Golemo said.

For example, the ISU Wind Ensemble will perform "Council Oak," a new piece from songs of the Seminole Indian tribe of Florida and "The Battle of Shiloh," a march written by Iowa composer C.L. Barnhouse.

Tickets are $10 and available at the Iowa State Center box office and TicketMaster outlets.
