It's Homecoming

Teams of faculty, staff and alumni will be whipping up their best pork burgers during the first annual Homecoming Grill-Off from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, on central campus. If you have bought a $2 Homecoming button, you will be able to munch on free pork burgers from 4 to 6 p.m. during "Wear Red, Get Fed" on central campus.

As during past Homecomings, students have been participating in a Blitz Build this past week as part of the Habitat for Humanity of Central Iowa effort to build a house in a week. The house is located at 1009 Ford St. in Kelley.

Other events this weekend include a pep rally, lawn displays, fireworks and the ISU-Oklahoma State football game at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Homecoming events (partial schedule)

Friday, October 21

  • 2 p.m., All-University Honors and Awards Ceremony, Benton Auditorium, Scheman.
  • 3-6 p.m., Grill-Off for faculty, staff and alumni, $15 entry fee, central campus.
  • 4-6 p.m., "Wear Red, Get Fed," pork burgers, free with Homecoming button, central campus.
  • 6-7:30 p.m., Pep Rally and Yell-Like-Hell finals, free, central campus.
  • 7:30-10:30 p.m., ExCytement in the Streets, lawn displays and entertainment, free, Greek houses in Ash and Sunset area.
  • Midnight, Mass campaniling and fireworks, free, central campus.

Saturday, October 22

  • 10 a.m., ISU Alumni Center ground breaking, free, hill south of Stephens.
  • 1 p.m., Football, ISU vs. Oklahoma State, $40 (discounts for some groups), Jack Trice Stadium.

Sunday, Oct. 23

  • 3 p.m., Homecoming concert, ISU Wind Ensemble and four music alumni, free, Tye Hall, Music.

Grill-off

A grill-off for faculty, staff and alumni is one of the new activities featured during this year's Homecoming.
