Search begins for Agriculture dean

A 21-member committee has begun the search for the new dean of the College of Agriculture and director of the Iowa Agriculture and Home Economics Experiment Station. The search committee is chaired by College of Business dean Labh Hira. Hira said the committee's goal is to name a new dean by Jan. 1.

The successful candidate will succeed Catherine Woteki, who had been dean of the college since January 2002, and became global director of scientific affairs for Mars Inc., McLean, Va., on Aug. 1. Wendy Wintersteen, senior associate dean of the college, is serving as interim dean.

In addition, two student members will be named at a later date.
