March 11, 2005 Teaching tipMove itDon't stay tied to the podium or front of the room. Moving around can attract students' attention, encourage them to focus on the classroom task and increase your face-to-face interaction with students. A portable mike or lapel mike can keep you in touch with students as you move around, even in the largest classes. Variation is preferable. Constant motion, particularly swaying in place or marching back and forth, might be distracting to your students. |
