New staff in employee, labor relations

The Employee and Labor Relations Office of the department of human resource services has two new staff:

  • Manager Tim Cook, phone 4-2978; office: 3680 Beardshear.
  • Worker's comp and employee services specialist Steve Moats, phone 4-7083; office: 3770 Beardshear.

Cook previously spent several years with the Iowa Department of Administrative Services/Human Resources Enterprise. He will oversee dispute resolution, grievance handling, collective bargaining and employee recognition programs such as ISU 25-Year Club. He fills the position last occupied by Marlise McCammon.

Moats succeeds Deb Sunstrom as the workers compensation specialist at ISU. He previously worked at the University of Iowa, where he developed to help supervisors and employees maneuver through reports, claims and records. Moats also has experience addressing issues of accommodation and access.

All worker's compensation medical services and providers for ISU employees will remain the same. However, the Employer's First Report of Injury form, which employees use to file claims of personal injury and illness sustained while performing work-related duties, now should be sent to 3770 Beardshear (fax: 4-7530). Departments with employees who need work-related medical services should advise medical providers that bills should be sent to the same location.
