Time to reserve materials for fall

Instructors who wish to place required materials on reserve for fall semester are asked to submit requests now. Go online to http://www.lib.iastate.edu/class/ers/ereserve.html

Payroll vouchers online

With the July 30 payroll, paper copies of payroll vouchers no longer will be delivered. However, they will be available through e-reports on AccessPlus. If you need help accessing the payroll vouchers online, contact your department or the payroll office, 4-6556.

Volunteers needed to supply fresh produce

You can support Reiman Gardens' Plant a Row for the Hungry campaign by growing an extra row in your garden or helping to sort produce for food pantries and ACCESS shelters on Mondays (6:45 to 8:45 a.m.) For more information or to volunteer, contact Joy Middleton, 4-8953.

Nature weekend at Lakeside Lab in August

A Nature Weekend for adults will be held Aug. 13-15 at the Iowa Lakeside Laboratory, West Okoboji. Learn about the geology of Iowa's Great Lakes Region, water quality, fisheries, streams, wetlands, prairies, forests, habitat preservation, fungi, birds and edible plants, and explore the natural history in Dickinson County. CTE training opportunities in August

The Center for Teaching Excellence will sponsor several training opportunities in August, including:

  • New faculty orientation: Aug. 16 (8:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Memorial Union), for tenure-track faculty hired any time during 2004; day two is teaching seminar (below).
  • University teaching seminar: Aug. 17 (8 a.m.-5 p.m., Memorial Union), for new, second- and third-year faculty; lecturers; clinicians; and graduate teaching assistants.
  • Graduate teaching assistant seminar: Aug. 18 (8 a.m.-1 p.m., Memorial Union), programming (in addition to the Aug. 17 teaching seminar) for graduate teaching assistants. TAs who register for the teaching seminar (above) may sign up for these events.
