Winter festival
set for Dec. 3
The Veishea committee is planning a winter festival for the campus community
from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3. The event will begin with a short
outdoor program (at 6 p.m.) north of the campanile and continue with events in the
Memorial Union.
Committee members will sell chili for $4 a bowl to raise
funds for Veishea scholarships. Other festival details will be announced on
the ISU Web site.
Iowa State's annual lights festival on central campus was discontinued
during the most recent budget-cutting process.
"We are proud of our students for stepping forward and offering to plan a
winter celebration," said Tahira Hira, assistant to the president.
"Historically at Iowa State, our Veishea teams have provided wonderful
leadership for campus activities."
