Insect Zoo hosts family Halloween hike
The ISU Insect Zoo will host A Very Hungry Halloween Hike from 6 to 9 p.m.
Oct. 20, 21 and 23. The quarter-mile, 20-minute hike, held outside at the
Ames Izaak Walton League Park, lets families help a caterpillar become a
butterfly. The event is appropriate for children pre-K and up (kids are
encouraged to come in costume). The trail is not stroller accessible.
After the hike, families can head indoors to hold an assortment of live
insects, enjoy some snacks or get their pictures taken with a giant
millipede.
Admission is $5 for ages 3 and up. Proceeds help develop new programs for
children and schools throughout Iowa.
The Ames Izaak Walton League Park is located on Stagecoach Road in east Ames
(off of E. 13th Street). Follow the signs. For more information, contact the
