Oct. 1 is first CYtation Award deadline

by Anne Krapfl
A new employee award will recognize Professional and Scientific employees for exceptional work. The deadline for the first round of "CYtation" awards is Oct. 1.

Up to eight CYtation awards will be distributed quarterly. President Gregory Geoffroy will visit recipients in their work areas to present the awards. Recipients will receive a one-year individual pass to the Reiman Gardens, a certificate of recognition, a copy of their photo with Geoffroy and a piece of Iowa State memorabilia.

Besides P&S status, the criteria for a CYtation award are:
  • Work beyond the call of duty,
  • Work that is done extraordinarily well, or
  • Work performance that makes a real difference in the institution.
Nominations must be submitted by a college dean, department chair, center director or unit leader. A nominating group will be limited to two nominations per quarter.

"There are other, annual, awards that recognize outstanding P&S performance on a larger scale," said Kurt Roberts, who chairs the P&S Councils awards committee this year. Committee members will select CYtation winners. "The CYtation award is our attempt to recognize good work that is going on all the time, that maybe doesn't quite qualify for other P&S awards.

"We think there are a lot of really dedicated P&S employees at Iowa State who make their own commitment to excellence in their everyday work," he said.

More information about the award, including the nomination form, is online at http://www.iastate.edu/~ps_info/CYtation.html. Questions can be directed to Roberts, 4-3676.
