White named as interim FCS dean
by Kevin Brown
Pamela White, University professor of food science and human nutrition, has
been named interim dean for the College of Family and Consumer Sciences,
effective July 1.
White came to Iowa State in 1975 as an instructor in the food science and
human nutrition department. She received her Ph.D. in food technology from
Iowa State in 1981 and has been promoted through the department from
assistant professor to her current rank. She served as interim department
chair for food science and human nutrition from 1995 to 1997.
Vice president for academic affairs and provost Benjamin Allen said soon he
will appoint a committee to conduct a national search for a permanent dean.
The committee is expected to begin work in late summer or early fall.
White succeeds Carol Meeks, who has been dean of the college since 1997 and
is resigning June 30 to become director of the college's Center for Family
Policy.
