Regents sign off on 68 faculty promotions

At its April 10 meeting in Cedar Falls, the Board of Regents, State of Iowa, approved promotions and/or tenure for 68 faculty members beginning in the 2003-04 academic year. Following is the approved list:

College of Agriculture
Promotion to professor (already tenured): Mark Honeyman, animal science; Sergio Lence, economics; Antonio Mallarino, agronomy; Deland Myers, food science and human nutrition; Thomas Peterson, zoology and genetics; Stephen Sapp, sociology.

Promotion to professor (collaborator without tenure): David Laird, agronomy.

Promotion to associate professor with tenure: Thomas Baas, animal science; Madan Bhattacharya, agronomy; Gwyn Beattie, plant pathology; C. Clare Hinrichs, sociology; Maureen Kilkenny, economics; Wendy Powers-Schilling, animal science; Thomas Richard, agricultural and biosystems engineering; Quinn Weninger, economics; Jinhua Zhao, economics.


College of Business
Promotion to professor (already tenured): Sanjeey Agarwal, marketing; G. Prem Premkumar, logistics, operations and management information systems; Sue Ravenscroft, accounting.

Promotion to associate professor with tenure: Dan Zhu, logistics, operations and management information systems.

Tenure without promotion (as associate professor): Rhonda Lummus, logistics, operations and management information systems.


College of Design
Promotion to professor (already tenured): Chiu Shui Chan, architecture.

Promotion to associate professor with tenure: Karen Bermann, architecture; Mickael Muecke, architecture; Lynn Paxson, architecture; Charles Richards, art and design.

Tenure without promotion (as associate professor): Timothy Borich, community and regional planning.


College of Education
Promotion to associate professor with tenure: Timothy Derrick, health and human performance; Steven Freeman, industrial education and technology; Galen Trail, health and human performance.


College of Engineering
Promotion to professor (already tenured): Srinivas Garimella, mechanical engineering; Ping Lu, aerospace engineering and engineering mechanics; James McCalley, electrical and computer engineering; Reginald Souleyrette, civil and construction engineering; Judy Vance, mechanical engineering.

Promotion to associate professor with tenure: David Cann, materials science and engineering; Balaji Narasimhan, chemical engineering; Murti Salapaka, electrical and computer engineering; Shihwu Sung, civil and construction engineering.

Tenure without promotion (as associate professor): Sarah Ryan, industrial and manufacturing systems engineering.
