Deaths
Marcia Cox
Marcia Cox, secretary in the economics department, died June 19 of a heart
attack at her Zearing home. She was 54.
Samuel Townsend
Samuel Townsend, former biohazard engineer in Environmental Health and
Safety, died July 4 of lung cancer at the Israel Family Hospice House, Ames.
He was 68. Townsend worked at Iowa State from 1968 to his retirement in
1994. Memorials may be sent to the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 1015
N. Hyland Ave., Ames, 50014.
Charles Black
Charles Black, professor emeritus of agronomy, died July 6 of heart failure
at Israel Family Hospice House, Ames. He was 86. Black was on the ISU
faculty from 1939 to 1979, but continued as an adjunct and later (1985)
emeritus professor. Memorials may be sent to WOI Radio, 2022 Communications
Building.
