Some computer discounts available

Some computer discounts will be available through the Microcomputer Product Center during the next few weeks. The discounts are part of bulk purchase agreements MPC officials are working out with computer manufacturers.

The discounted computers can be purchased by faculty, staff and students for either departmental or personal use, said Bonnie Whalen, MPC manager.

Here's the status of discounts available through vendors:

Dell. Discounts are approximately 20 percent on desktops and 10 percent on laptops.
Gateway. MPC officials are collecting computer configurations from those interested in bulk purchasing and will submit orders to Gateway in early May for discount offers.
Apple. MPC officials hope to collect enough requests for Apple/Mac computers to pursue a bulk purchase. Those interested should contact Whalen whalen@iastate.edu, 4-0327.
