ISU vs. Pitt in Insight.com Bowl

The Cyclone football team has accepted a bid to play the University of Pittsburgh ("Pitt") in the Insight.com Bowl Thursday, Dec. 28, in Phoenix, Ariz. The Cyclones finished the regular season with a record of eight wins and three losses. The Panthers (7-4) tied for third in the Big East Conference.

The game will kick off at 6 p.m. (central time) in the Bank One Ballpark, home of Major League Baseball's Arizona Diamondbacks. It will be televised nationally by ESPN. This is the first football game to be played in the stadium; seats will be added to increase the crowd capacity to 50,000.

Tickets are $48 and went on sale to the public Dec. 4 at the Olsen Building ticket office. Tickets also can be ordered over the Internet ( http://www.cyclones.com) or by phone at 1-888-478-2925. Iowa State students will be able to purchase tickets beginning at 8 a.m. today (Dec. 8) at the south box office of Hilton Coliseum. The bowl game is the Cyclones' first in 22 seasons and the Panthers' first since 1997, when they lost to Southern Mississippi in the Liberty Bowl. Pitt and Iowa State will receive $750,000 each for their bowl appearances.
