Richmond Center relocates
The Richmond Center, which contracts to provide Iowa State's Employee Assistance Program, has moved. The new location is at 125 S. Third St., Ames. The phone number remains the same.


Director named for engineering program
Rebecca Kellogg, adjunct assistant professor in aerospace and engineering mechanics, has been named director for engineering distance education, the outreach education facility for the College of Engineering.


Carillon festival this weekend
The ISU Carillon Festival 2000 will be held Friday through Sunday, Sept. 22-24, on campus. It will feature carillon concerts each afternoon, a composition competition for young composers and a seminar at 1:30 p.m. Saturday on carillonneur Percival Price by Beverly Buchanan of Belmont University, Nashville, Tenn. Open house Oct. 6 at Student Services Building
The campus community is invited to an open house in the refurbished Student Services Building from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6. All offices will be open and refreshments served. The building is home to Minority Student Affairs, Student Counseling Service, Substance Abuse Programming and the Dean of Students office (including Judicial Affairs, Academic Success Center, Student Assistance Program and LGBT Student Services).


Visiting prof seeks collaborative projects
A rural sociologist from Peru is developing collaborative projects this fall as a visiting professor at The North Central Regional Center for Rural Development. María Fernández, National Agricultural University of Peru, La Molina, will design a rural development project for ISU and Grupo Yanapai, a nonprofit organi-zation in Peru's Central Highlands. Faculty and staff interested in developing collaborations with Fernandez can contact her at 4-4295.


Center for Designing Foods joins Plant Sciences Institute
The Center for Designing Foods to Improve Nutrition is joining the Plant Sciences Institute. It becomes the ninth research center under the umbrella of the institute. The Center for Designing Foods has been administered through the College of Family and Consumer Sciences and the food sciences and human nutrition department since 1990. Diane Birt, professor and chairman of the department, is director of the designing foods center.

Center faculty and scientists conduct research to improve nutrition and promote good health through new and traditional foods.
