African American exhibit to ISU

by Steve Sullivan
An exhibit highlighting the history of African Americans in Iowa will travel to Ames this fall. The African American Heritage Foundation of Iowa exhibit focuses on such topics as the Underground Railroad in Iowa, Iowa Negro Baseball teams, the Tuskegee Airmen basic training in Iowa and the history of Buxton, Iowa.

The exhibit will be at North Grand Mall, Aug. 28-Sept. 10; the Ames Library, Sept. 11-Sept. 30; and ISU Library, Oct. 2- Nov. 3. It is free and open to the public.

Among the sponsors of the exhibit is Iowa State's Breaking Down the Barriers committee, which includes Iowa State employees, and Ames residents and business people. The goal of the committee is to improve the environment for multiculturalism and diversity.
