Lipa Festival explores "Crosscurrents"
The annual Lipa Festival will celebrate the diversity of concert music at the beginning of the new century, focusing on "Crosscurrents" (the festival's theme) among music traditions such as jazz, popular music and ethnic music. Performers will include ISU students and faculty, the ISU Jazz Ensemble, and Scott Anderson, an ISU alumnus who teaches trombone at the University of Nebraska. The free concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, in Tye Hall, Music Building.


Sigma Xi Series Feb. 24
Jerry Mahlman will discuss "Human-Caused Climate Warming: Implications for Practically Everything" during the Sigma Xi Series, at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, in the Memorial Union Campanile Room. Mahlman is director of the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and a professor at Princeton University, New Jersey. The lecture is free.
