Q: Why are the gates on Osborn Drive left up in the summer time?

A: Because of the large number of visitors to campus in the summer months -- including prospective students and their families, incoming students here for orientation, visiting scientists and others -- university leaders have opted to raise the gates to keep central campus more accessible and all of campus "friendlier." With the gates up, visitors can move around campus freely.
