Carver Capsule

Carver began his teaching career at Tuskegee with 13 students and 19 acres of Alabama farmland. He took his students straight to the fields to learn. At the end of his first year, he had 76 students and had drawn up a two-year course in agricultural studies. The course was based on the model Carver had observed at Iowa State.
