Schmidt to reflect on Clinton scandal
Steffen Schmidt, professor of political science, will discuss the altered state of the U.S. presidency during a guest lecture in the chemical engineering senior seminar Thursday, Oct. 1. The seminar, which is open to the ISU community, begins at 1 p.m. in 205 Pearson.
"Putting Monica in Perspective" is the name of Schmidt's talk. He argues that the fate of President Bill Clinton already is written. The questions he will address are:
- How seriously has the presidency been weakened?
- Have American politics been turned into an afternoon
soap opera?
- Is privacy, a very important part of freedom in the
United States, no longer possible?
