President's lunch

President Martin Jischke will hold his next open lunch forum at noon Thursday, March 26, in the Memorial Union Gold Room. Faculty, staff and students are invited to pack a lunch or purchase one in the food court and join the president. Coffee and tea are provided.

Credit union board members

Four members were elected to the ISU Credit Union board of directors at the annual meeting March 6. They are Lea Bartley, facilities planning and management; Larry Couture, Engineering Research Institute; Aaron Davenport, IPRT; and Kim Sharp, management department.

Alumni calendar deadline

The submission deadline for the calendar of events in the 1998-99 ISU Alumni Assn. calendar is April 15. Information should be sent to: Joanne Hansson, Alumni Suite, Memorial Union, fax: 4-9402, e-mail: jhansso@iastate.edu.

'HOT' conference at ISU

Hispanic students from five Midwestern states will attend the 9th annual Hispanics of Today (HOT) conference at Iowa State April 3-5. The conference will include workshops on Latino issues, research presentations, informal dialogues with session speakers and a dinner.

The HOT conference promotes Hispanic organizations, leadership development, continuing education, cultural and political awareness, and community and career involvement.

The conference fee is $35 and includes meals. For more information, contact Juana Nolasco Cedillo, 4-3081.

MANRRS national conference

The Iowa State chapter is hosting the national Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences (MANRRS) conference in Des Moines April 2-4. About 500 minority students and professionals in agriculture-related fields will attend.

A visit to Iowa State April 2 has been dubbed George Washington Carver Day. Participants will be greeted by President Martin Jischke, then hear a panel of speakers talk about Carver's life and contributions to science. Department visits in the College of Agriculture and campus tours will round out the day.

The conference closing speaker will be Miley Gonzalez, undersecretary of agriculture for research, education and economics in the Clinton administration and a former ISU faculty member.
