Museum store has new manager

The Brunnier Art Museum Store has a new manager and is in the process of receiving a new look. Molly Simpson, who was hired in November, is an Iowa State graduate with extensive retail experience. She formerly operated her own gift shops in Ames and in Gunnison, Colo.

The store, on the second floor of the Scheman Building, will have a 40 percent off sale Tuesday, Feb. 3, through Sunday, Feb, 15, to make room for new merchandise. A Valentine open house will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7.

Store merchandise includes jewelry, pottery, glass (vases, wine glasses), wood, cards (including work by local photographers Don Wishart and Helen Gunderson), art books, T- shirts, children's toys and art supplies.

The store recently started selling work by clay artist Patricia Kimle, featured this month in a Des Moines Sunday Register story. One of Kimle's decorative eggs will represent Iowa at the annual White House Easter Egg Roll.

Regular store hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m Tuesday through Friday, 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, and 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
