Tree lighting is Nov. 19

The ISU community is invited to the annual campus tree- lighting ceremony, which begins at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, on the steps of Beardshear.

This year's festivities will include a carillon concert by Tin-shi Tam at 5 p.m., cookies and hot chocolate, remarks by President Martin Jischke, a candle-lit ceremony, the ISU Oratorio Chorus, an open house at the campanile and horse- drawn wagon rides. New this year will be performances by the Gospel Soul Innovators and special small groups, including woodwind and brass quintets and a strolling vocal sextet. Cy will make a holiday appearance.

The Farm House Museum and the University Book Store will have pre-holiday open houses from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The tree lighting will coincide with Mary Greeley Medical Center's "Fantasy of Trees & Lights," which is open from noon to 7 p.m. that day in the Memorial Union Great Hall. Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for ISU faculty, staff and students (Nov. 19 only) and $2 for children ages 2 to 12 years. The "Fantasy of Trees & Lights" will be open through Sunday, Nov. 23.
