Richard Hoffmann is interim LAS dean

by Anne Dolan

Richard Hoffmann, professor of zoology and genetics and associate dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, has been named interim dean of the college. Hoffmann's appointment began Aug. 25.

Hoffmann succeeds Elizabeth Hoffman, who is the new provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Illinois, Chicago. Elizabeth Hoffman had served as LAS dean since July 1993.

"The college will be in expert hands under Dick Hoffmann's guidance," Provost John Kozak said. "It is important to keep the programs of the college on course and to provide full and clear support for faculty and staff, and he will provide that leadership."

Richard Hoffmann joined the ISU faculty in 1980 and has served as an associate dean of the college since 1993.

Information on the search for a permanent dean will be announced later.
