Interim dean named for library services

Olivia Madison, associate professor of library and associate director of public services and collections, has been named interim dean of library services. The appointment is effective Aug. 18.

A search to fill the position on a permanent basis is under way. Nancy Eaton, dean of library services, is leaving Iowa State to become dean of the university libraries at Pennsylvania State University, University Park, Sept. 1.

Madison has been a member of the library faculty since 1975. Prior to her current position, she served as assistant director for public services, head of the cataloging department, head of the monographs department and head of the serials cataloging section. She was president of the ISU Faculty Senate in 1990-91. She has been active in professional organizations at the state, national and international levels.

She is co-editor of a book, the author of several book chapters and journal articles, and has made presentations at state, regional, national and international professional meetings. Madison received a B.S. in history from Iowa State and a master's in library science from the University of Missouri, Columbia.
