Thompson to head CNDE
R. Bruce Thompson has been named director of the Center for Nondestructive Evaluation (CNDE).
Thompson is a distinguished professor of engineering and has served as the deputy director of CNDE since 1985.
Joel Snow, director of the Institute for Physical Research and Technology, said Thompson is "an outstanding scientist with an international reputation" and "an experienced and tested administrator."
Provost John Kozak said Thompson "will help CNDE maintain its momentum as a world-recognized leader in the area of non-invasive inspection technologies."
Thompson most recently served as associate director of science and technology at the Ames Laboratory, a position from which he is retiring.
