Family policy center OKed by regents

by Michelle Johnson
The Iowa Board of Regents approved the new Iowa State University Center for Family Policy at its February meeting.

Researchers at the new center will address national and state policy issues focusing on people at all stages of life; families, especially those that face economic, social and/or developmental constraints; and communities.

The center will be a unit of the College of Family and Consumer Sciences. The college dean will oversee the center.

Through the center, faculty members will pursue collaborative research projects with faculty from other educational institutions, representatives from business and industry, and government officials. Center officials also will assist with training programs for employees and contracted staff of local, state and federal government agencies serving individuals and families.
