ISU to host Latino college expo

Iowa State will host the Fourth Annual Latino College Expo on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at the Scheman Building.

More than 300 Latino high school students from Central Iowa are expected to attend the expo for a series of workshops, a college fair and a tour of the ISU campus.

The expo will include workshops on financial aid, postsecondary education opportunities, a Latino Studies mock class and a science program. The Latino Studies workshop will be presented by Hector Avalos, assistant professor of philosophy and director of the Latino Studies program.

Approximately 25 universities and colleges from Iowa, Nebraska and Missouri will participate in the college fair. A work-shop for high school counselors and admissions representatives will be offered.

The Latino College Expo is free. For more information, contact Juan Davila, College of Business, 4-8300; e-mail: jdavila@iastate.edu.
