UPDATE: Ray Pospisil has withdrawn his application to take a position as the director of the new statewide system in South Dakota.

Registrar finalists named

Three finalists have been named for the position of university registrar.

The finalists are: Kathleen Jones, associate registrar at ISU; Ray Pospisil, registrar at the University of South Dakota, Vermillion; and Wade Robinson, director of academic records and registration at the University of Nebraska, Omaha.

Among the responsibilities of the Office of the Registrar are registering students in courses, maintaining records for current and former students, evaluating the graduation status of students and coordinating commencement ceremonies.

Each candidate will visit ISU in September to meet with students, faculty and staff, and administrators. The campus community will have the opportunity to meet candidates during open forums in the Memorial Union.

  • Jones: 2:45 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, Gold Room

  • Pospisil: 3:45 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, Gold Room


    Jones has been associate registrar for systems and records at ISU since 1995. Among the positions she has held since joining the ISU Registrar's Office in 1972 are assistant registrar and associate registrar for scheduling. Jones received a B.S. in mathematics in 1972 and an M.S. in professional studies in education in 1978, both from Iowa State, and is a Ph.D. candidate in the same area.

    Pospisil has been registrar at South Dakota since 1986. He also was associate director for registration at Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, and assistant to the registrar at Indiana University, Bloomington. He received a B.A. in history from Kent State University, Kent, Ohio, in 1974, and an M.A. in history in 1975 and a Ph.D. in East European history in 1983, both from Indiana University.

    Robinson has been director of academic records and registration at Nebraska since 1994. He also served as administrative assistant to the registrar and assistant registrar at the University of Nebraska, Kearney. Robinson received a B.S. in fitness and leisure management from the University of Nebraska, Kearney, and an M.A.E. in educational administration and a Ph.D in administration, curriculum and instruction from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.
