Graduation is Aug. 3

About 760 students will receive degrees at the summer commencement ceremony Saturday, Aug. 3. The ceremony begins at 9:30 a.m. in Hilton Coliseum. No tickets are required. Due to its smaller numbers, summer commencement is the only graduation ceremony Iowa State holds at which all graduating students' names are read as they walk across the stage.

An estimated 410 students will receive bachelor's degrees, 275 students will receive master's degrees, and 75 will receive doctoral degrees. Two specialist degrees will be awarded as well.

William Woodman, professor of sociology, will give the commencement address. Woodman joined the Iowa State faculty in 1973 and was elected president of the Faculty Senate for the 1996-97 academic year.
