Second leadership program planned

Leadership ISU is a new one-semester program that will involve more than 100 freshmen during the 1996-97 school year. In small groups, they will meet weekly to work with faculty and staff advisers, and upperclass and graduate students, on leadership concepts that will culminate in community service projects.

The program grew out of the growing demand in business, industry and the public sector for graduates who have had leadership experiences and can work on complex issues, said Tom Thielen, vice president for student affairs.

The students for the pilot year of Leadership ISU have been selected. A team of staff and students will plan the content of the program and help recruit faculty and staff to work with the student groups.

Anyone interested in serving as a faculty or staff adviser to a Leadership ISU group should contact Terri Houston, coordinator of the program, 4-1023.
