More energy center finalists named

Two additional finalists have been named in the search for a new director of the Iowa Energy Center. Three other finalists visited campus in January.

Visiting campus this month are Glenn Cannon, general manager of Waverly (Iowa) Light and Power and Jeff Birkby, marketing division manager of the National Center for Appropriate Technology, Butte, Mont.

During campus visits, finalists meet with a variety of groups and respond to questions at open forums. The forum for Cannon was held March 19. A forum for Birkby will be held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 28, in the Memorial Union Gallery.

Before joining Waverly (Iowa) Light and Power, Cannon held several positions with Santee Cooper in Myrtle Beach, S.C. He received a bachelor's degree in economics from Clemson University, South Carolina.

Before joining the National Center for Appropriate Technology, Birkby directed the State Energy Conservation Service for the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation. He has a B.S. in biology from Nebraska Wesleyan University and a master's in botany from Montana State University, Bozeman.
