Jischke on Talk of Iowa

President Martin Jischke will be a guest on the Wednesday, Jan. 10, 1996, Talk of Iowa radio show. Talk of Iowa, which airs weekdays on WOI-AM, begins at 10 a.m.

On the move

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Advising Office and Dean's Office arenow in Catt Hall. The advising offices are on first floor, the dean's office on second floor, the Carrie Chapman Catt Center on third floor and the philosophy department on fourth floor. Phone numbers remain unchanged; however, those who want to reserve 290 Carver now should call Ruth Brayman, College of Business, 4-2422.

Fall weekends

Homecoming, and Parent and Family Weekend have been scheduled for fall 1996. Homecoming will be held Sept. 22-28, with Parent and Family Weekend to follow Nov. 1-3.

Parents Association change

As of Jan. 1, 1996, the Dean of Students Office will sponsor the Parents Association, which was founded by the Alumni Association more than 20 years ago. Doug Houghton, assistant dean of students, will work directly with the association. Parent and Family Weekend will continue to be organized through the Alumni Association and Student Alumni Association.

Shop 'til you drop

The Farm House Museum Holiday Shoppe will be open noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday until Dec. 21. Most craft items are handmade. Items include Moravian stars, lemon pomanders and feather trees. Sunday, Dec. 17, is "Family Day" at the museum, with live music and an opportunity for children to make their own tree ornaments.

Incomplete grades

An incomplete grade may be granted to a student who has a passing grade but is unable to complete the work by the end of the term due to circumstances beyond his or her control. Both the instructor and student must complete an Incomplete Mark Report form. For more information, contact the Registrar's Office, 4-1840.

Merit grants

Tuition grant applications for eligible merit employees (E and H base) for spring semester 1996 are due 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, in the Office of Human Resource Services, 16 Beardshear. Applications and information on eligibility are available in 16 Beardshear or by calling Kathy Strohl, 4- 6457.

Merit employees seeking reimbursement for fall semester 1995 classes must have two photocopies of grade slips (and proof of payment for off-campus classes) in 16 Beardshear by 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, 1996.

P&S grants

Tuition grant applications for eligible P&S employees (P base) for spring semester 1996 are due 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, in the Provost's Office, 107 Beard-shear. Applications and information on eligibility are available in 107 Beardshear, or by calling Peggy Biskner, 4-5882.

P&S employees seeking reimbursement for fall semester 1995 classes must have two photocopies of grade slips (and proof of payment for off-campus classes) in 107 Beardshear by 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, 1996.

How it works

Copies of the 1995-96 How It Works pamphlet are available from News Service, 207 Morrill. The pamphlet contains a variety of facts and figures about Iowa State. To order copies, call 4-4777.

Telex services

The Office of International Students and Scholars no longer will offer Telex services, as of Dec. 31. To reach overseas locations that do not have fax or e-mail links, contact Western Union, 1-800-325-6000. Western Union will accept any major credit card or bill the academic department for the message. Send a university voucher and the bill to Accounting, 218 Beardshear.
