Inside Iowa State Nov. 10, 1995 A Christmas Carol Plays Next Month by Curt M. Pratt, News Service intern The holiday spirit will return to Iowa State next month with ISU Theatre faculty member Jane Cox's adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Join all the Dickens characters -- Marley, Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim, the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come -- as they work their holiday magic on Ebenezer Scrooge, teaching him the true meaning of Christmas. The production is directed by Cara Peterson, a senior in speech communication. "We've never had a student direct on the main stage," said Gregg Henry, director of theatre. "She takes Jane Cox's adaptation and directs it in such a way, it feels like it's almost a new play." The cast includes Dan Fairall, art and design, as Scrooge; Philip Marten, general graduate studies, as Marley; Tim Davis, journalism and mass communication, as Bob Cratchit; Sara Bliss, psychology, as Mrs. Cratchit; and Jason Howland, journalism and mass communication, as the Ghost of Christmas Present. The play will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 1 and 2, and at 2 p.m. Dec. 2 and 3. All performances will be in Fisher Theater. Tickets cost $7.75 and are available at the Iowa State Center box office and through TicketMaster outlets. __________ University Relations Iowa State University
