Candace Gingrich Speaks Out Candace Gingrich, 1995 spokesperson for the Human Rights Campaign Fund's National Coming Out Day, will speak at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, in the Memorial Union Sun Room. Her talk is titled "Family Matters." The half-sister of Republican Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, Candace Gingrich talks about several prominent, conservative families that have gay and lesbian members. She says the families' anti-gay stance is hypocritical. While her brother is said to be personally supportive of her choice, Gingrich said she wants her brother -- and others -- to understand that tolerance is not enough and that discrimination against gays and lesbians is wrong. National Coming Out Day is being observed on campus Oct. 11. _____ contact: Internal Communications, (515) 294-3129 updated: 9-29-95
