Plans Continue for Child Care Center Iowa State officials are proceeding with plans to build a new child care facility at the College of Veterinary Medicine. At its June 8 meeting in Cedar Falls, the Iowa Board of Regents approved an ISU request to continue project planning and secure architectural services for the $1.3 million facility. The facility, to be located north of the College of Veterinary Medicine complex, will accommodate approximately 90 children, ranging in age from infants to school-age children. The university will contract with an independent operator to provide child care services. University officials said no additional state funds will be sought for the facility. Temporary investment earnings will finance the building. Operating costs will come from university funds already committed to child care programming and user fees. Fees will be based on a sliding scale. University officials anticipate that two-thirds of the youngsters in the facility will be children of ISU students and the remainder will be children of faculty and staff. Students will receive priority in using the facility. _____ contact: Internal Communications, (515) 294-7065 updated: 6-16-95
