Catt Center Director Steps Down Mary Ann Tetreault, professor of political science, has resigned her position as director of the Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics, effective Aug. 1. Tetreault will remain on the faculty of the political science department. Tetreault, whose position as center director began in August 1994, said difficulty juggling her research activities and the center's outreach responsibilities prompted her resignation from the center. An interim director of the Catt center will be announced later, said Elizabeth Hoffman, dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Tetreault's research has focused on the oil industry, the Mideast, and women and politics. She has received a Fulbright Fellowship, which will take her to Slovakia in 1996. "The Center for Women and Politics is an important research and outreach effort at Iowa State, and Mary Ann Tetreault has had a vital role in its early development," Hoffman said. "I am committed to seeing the Catt center continue to develop and grow into one of the leading centers of its kind." _____ contact: Internal Communications, (515) 294-3129 updated: 5-26-95
