Spring Commencement Schedule Set After inaugurating a new commencement schedule last fall, Iowa State officials will use the same format when an anticipated 2,600 students receive degrees from the university next week. The schedule leaves Saturday morning of graduation weekend open for recognition events in individual colleges. Approximately 350 master's and doctoral candidates will be honored during a ceremony at 8 p.m. Friday, May 12, in C.Y. Stephens. Bruce Harmon, professor of physics and astronomy and Distinguished Professor in Liberal Arts and Sciences, will address the graduates and their families. An estimated 2,200 undergraduate students will be recognized at a 2 p.m. ceremony Saturday, May 13, in Hilton Coliseum. Tickets are needed for admittance. Stanley Johnson, professor of economics and a Distinguished Professor in Agriculture, will give the commencement address. The College of Veterinary Medicine will award 86 D.V. M. degrees during a noon ceremony Saturday, May 13, in C.Y. Stephens. Former Congressman Neal Smith, whose grandson Brennen Smith is in the graduating class, will speak.
