Retirement Receptions

George Karas
A retirement reception for George Karas, associate dean of 
the Graduate College, will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, 
April 27, in the Memorial Union Campanile Room. Karas has 
been with the university for nearly 36 years. Send letters of 
appreciation and best wishes to Barbara Plakans, Karas 
Retirement, Graduate College, 207 Beardshear. An award for an 
outstanding dissertation in the behavioral sciences is being 
established in KarasŐ honor.


Harry Brearley
A retirement reception for Harry Brearley will be held from 2 
to 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, in the Memorial Union Campanile 
Room. Brearley has been a professor in the departments of 
computer science and electrical engineering and computer 
engineering for 30 years. Send letters of appreciation and 
best wishes to Cindy Clark, department of computer science,

Arthur Swift
A retirement reception for Arthur Swift,  professor of music, 
will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Thursday, May 4, in the 
Music Building main lobby. Swift served as chair of the music 
department from 1972 to 1992.


George Burnet
A retirement reception for George Burnet, interim dean of the 
College of Engineering, will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. 
Tuesday, May 9, in the Memorial Union Campanile Room. Burnet 
has been a member of the ISU faculty for 39 years.


John Patterson
A retirement reception will be held for John Patterson, 
professor of materials science and engineering, from 2:30 to 
4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, in the Memorial Union Campanile 
Room.


Alyce Fanslow
A retirement reception for Alyce Fanslow, distinguished 
professor in family and consumer sciences education, will be 
held from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, in the LeBaron 
lounge.


Jeoraldean McClain
A retirement reception for Jeoraldean McClain, associate 
professor of art and design, will be held from 1:30 to 3 p.m. 
Thursday, May 11, in the east end of the College of Design 
atrium.
