New IPERS Handbooks Out University employees enrolled in the Iowa Public Employees Retirement System (IPERS) will receive a new edition of the IPERS handbook, Retirement Planning Guidelines. It contains all the IPERS amendments from the 1993 and 1994 sessions of the Iowa General Assembly. The handbook covers IPERS membership, contributions, service credits, steps to take in applying for benefits, eligibility for benefits, retirement options, special provisions, re- employment, termination, death benefits, rollovers, taxation and other IPERS provisions. The new IPERS handbook also has toll-free and toll charge telephone numbers for caller questions. The Benefits Office has received just enough of the new handbooks to supply those who currently contribute to IPERS. University employees with "old" IPERS accounts who want a copy of the new handbook should call the Benefits Office, 4- 7680. As soon as the office is resupplied, you will be sent a new handbook. _____ contact: Gary Wiggins, Personnel Benefits, (515) 294-7680 updated: 4-6-95
