ISU Claims Sixth Safety Award


For the sixth straight year, Iowa State has received a safety 
award from the Iowa-Illinois Safety Council. The award, 
presented to the office of Environmental Health and Safety, 
recognizes strong accident prevention programs and accident 
frequency rates that are below the national average.

Emery Sobottka, environmental health and safety director, 
said the real winners are staff members. "They have had fewer 
lost-time accidents and therefore spend more productive time 
on the job," he said.


INSTITUTIONAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARD FOR ODYSSEY

Jane Sharar, special events coordinator with University 
Relations, received the Outstanding Institutional Achievement 
award at the Association of Conference and Events Directors 
national conference. 

The award was presented for Iowa State"s hosting of the 
Odyssey of the Mind World Finals in June 1994. 

ACED-I is dedicated to developing standards for conference 
and events professionals in higher education.
